What is Podcasting?

Think of a podcast as a video or radio show. Podcasting makes an video or audio file, typically an MP3 file, available online for downloading via an automatic "feed." You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.

You can listen to podcasts one at a time or you can 'subscribe' to the entire podcast series using software on your computer. When you subscribe to a podcast, all new shows will be automatically downloaded to your computer as they are published. And if you have a portable media player, the next time you sync your device, your podcasts will be downloaded for listening on the go.

Getting Started:  At this point, you will already be able to listen to Podcasts from your computer (provided your computer has a sound card and can play MP3 audio files). You can choose to stream the podcast -- or you can download the podcast to listen later, or on your portable media device. If you want to make your podcast portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device.
